Important Travel Advice

Attendees are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.  

Trains run regularly to Olympic Park from Lidcombe and the venue is a short walk from the station. 

Please be aware that major trackwork is taking place across the rail network – Metro services will not run and trains will not run on the City Circle, or between Central and Wynyard. Buses also replace Inner West trains between Ashfield and Central. Plan your trip and allow extra travel time. 

You'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

If you need to drive, pre-book parking to guarantee a car space. - available until 11:59pm the night before the event

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the precinct as attendees travel to and from the match, particularly during busy evening peaks. Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city.

M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line Planned Trackwork – Monday 29 to Tuesday 30 December 

  • Metro services do not run between Tallawong and Sydenham.  
  • Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only.  
  • Trackwork also affects trains in the City. For travel between Epping or Chatswood, the City and Sydenham, use: 
    • T1 trains between Chatswood and Wynyard or T9 trains between Epping and Central.  
    • T4 trains between Martin Place and Sydenham. 
    • L2 or L3 light rail services between Wynyard and Central 

Change at Epping or Central for trains towards Lidcombe then Olympic Park.

The closest station to Qudos Bank Arena is Olympic Park.

Trains run regularly to Lidcombe where you can head to Platform Zero for a direct train to Olympic Park, running every 10 minutes until late.

Trackwork

Planned trackwork is taking place on Tuesday 30 December on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner.

  • City Circle: Trains do not run on the City Circle, or between Central and Wynyard. For travel in the City use T4 trains, light rail or local buses. L2 and L3 light rail services run between Central and Circular Quay. Metro services do not run between Tallawong and Sydenham.  
  • T1 North Shore Line: Trains run between Berowra and Wynyard only, to a changed timetable. Trains do not run between Wynyard and Central, or on the City Circle. Change at Wynyard for light rail or local buses to continue your journey. Metro services do not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only.  
  • T1 Western Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Richmond and Liverpool. Change at Parramatta for trains towards Central. Trains also run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Penrith and Central, platforms 1-14 only, making extra stops at Homebush, Flemington and Burwood. From 11pm to 1am some trains run between Richmond and Olympic Park. Metro and City Circle train trackwork may also affect how you travel.
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: Buses replace Inner West trains between Ashfield and Central. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Leppington and Ashfield via Granville or Regents Park. Change at Strathfield for express trains to Central or buses if you are travelling to stations between Summer Hill and Macdonaldtown. Remain on the train for Burwood, Croydon or Ashfield. From 10.20am to 1.20pm, buses replace trains between Leppington and Liverpool. Trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and Ashfield via Granville or Regents Park. T8 trains run between Glenfield and Sydenham. Metro and City Circle train trackwork may also affect how you travel.
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: Buses replace Inner West trains between Ashfield and Central. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Leppington and Ashfield via Regents Park. Change at Strathfield for express trains to Central or buses if you are travelling to stations between Summer Hill and Macdonaldtown. Remain on the train for Burwood, Croydon or Ashfield. Metro and City Circle train trackwork may also affect how you travel. 
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: All Cronulla and some Waterfall trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Extra trains run between Hurstville and Bondi Junction. Metro and City Circle train trackwork may affect how you travel. Change at Central or Town Hall for light rail or local buses to continue your journey to City stations 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond or Schofields and Liverpool. Change at Liverpool for trains towards Leppington. From 10.20am to 1.20pm, buses replace trains between Leppington and Liverpool. Trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and Richmond. From 11pm to 1am, some trains run between Richmond or Leppington and Olympic Park. You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey. 
  • T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: Train run to a changed timetable, with some services leaving 5 minutes earlier than the normal timetable. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Most trains run to a changed timetable between Macarthur and Sydenham, or between Revesby and Central via the Airport. Change at Revesby for trains to Central via the Airport, or Sydenham for T4 trains towards Bondi Junction. Early morning and late night trains run between Macarthur and Central via the Airport. T8 trains do not run between Sydenham and the City. Some T4 trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Metro and City Circle train trackwork may affect how you travel.   
  • T9 Northern Line: Trains run to a changed timetable between Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-14 only. Until 8am, trains run to a reduced frequency, every 30 minutes. Metro and City Circle train trackwork may also affect how you travel.
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains do not run via the T1 North Shore Line. Trains run to a changed timetable via Strathfield only. If travelling to T1 North Shore Line stations change at Hornsby, not Epping. Metro and City Circle train trackwork may also affect how you travel. 
  • South Coast Line: Some trains run to changed timetable. Metro and City Circle train trackwork may affect how you travel.

The following Sydney buses services run to Olympic Park:

  • Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Sydney Olympic Park via Newington.
  • Route 526 runs between Strathfield and Rhodes Shopping Centre via Sydney Olympic Park precinct and wharf.
  • Route 533 runs from Sydney Olympic Park to Chatswood via Rhodes & North Ryde.

The closest wharf to Qudos Bank Arena is Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus to the venue or alternatively it is approximately a 40-minute walk (3.6km) from the wharf.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using Trip Planner.

Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service towards Olympic Park from Parramatta Station. 

Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching Sydney Olympic Park as attendees travel to and from the match, particularly during busy evening peaks. Travel with your group and allow extra travel time on the M4, Parramatta Road, Homebush Bay Drive and Concord Road. 

If you have to drive, carpool with your group, pre-book your parking ahead of time to secure a space – available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior.

To get to your carpark and avoid the heavy traffic congestion expected at the Homebush Bay Drive roundabout, use Silverwater Road, Holker Street and Hill Road.

Road Closures

The nearest Taxi Rank is Herb Elliott Avenue near the Pullman Hotel.

If you’re using taxis or rideshare, remember that roads may be closed within the precinct. Allow plenty of extra travel time due to the increased traffic expected in the precinct before and after the event.

When leaving, choose a pick-up location away from the immediate area around the venue to avoid delays.

Visit Sydney Olympic Park - Parking to secure your parking space ahead of the event - available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior. A flat rate $35 parking fee will apply.  

If you have pre-booked a space, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry. Carpool with your group and allow plenty of additional travel time.

Use Silverwater Road, Holker Street and Hill Road to get to your car park and avoid the heavy traffic congestion expected at the Homebush Bay Drive roundabout. Traffic delays are expected after the match as attendees leave the precinct.
