Important travel advice

Lakemba Nights during Ramadan returns to Haldon St! This year the event will run from Thursday to Sundays only, 6pm to 2am, between 19 February and 15 March.

With significant crowds expected, attendees are urged to plan ahead and consider all available travel options. 

  • Catch trains or metro to Sydenham or Bankstown to connect with fare-free Southwest Link bus routes SW1 and SW2 to and from Lakemba.
  • Southwest Link buses will pick up and drop off on Lakemba St instead of The Boulevarde while road closures are in place.
  • Routes SW1, SW2, 450, 942, 946 and N40 make stops within walking distance of the event on Haldon Street, however buses will use different routes and stops while roads are closed
  • Trackwork:
    • Planned trackwork is taking place on the T3 and T6 lines during the event on weekend Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1 March and weeknights Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 March. Buses replace T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line trains between Liverpool and Lidcombe and T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line trains between Bankstown and Lidcombe. Catch rail replacement buses to Lakemba during these times.
    • Metro services will not run across the entire line on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March and Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March.
  • For travel by train, regular route bus or other modes, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

Road closures will be in place Thursdays to Sundays, 4pm to 4.30am, from Thursday 19 February to Sunday 15 March 2026, with the exception of The Boulevarde, which will reopen at 4am.

Heavy traffic is expected in the area and parking is limited so if you must drive, consider parking at a nearby train station and continuing your trip to Lakemba by bus. You can find real-time traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.  

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city.

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late.

Change at Sydenham for a Southwest Link bus route SW1 (all-stops) or SW2 (limited stops) to Lakemba Station. Plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

Trackwork

  • Metro services will not run across the entire line on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March and Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March.
  • Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only. Use trains between Epping or Chatswood and Sydenham.

The closest station to the event is Lakemba which remains closed while the T3 Line is upgraded to Sydney Metro.  

Catch trains or metro to Sydenham or Bankstown to connect with fare free Southwest Link bus routes SW1 and SW2 to and from Lakemba.

Due to road closures SWL buses will use different stops in Lakemba on Lakemba St instead of Haldon St. Other regular route buses also make stops on Lakemba St near the event site on Haldon St. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

  • SW1 all-stops: Bankstown, then all stations to Sydenham and return 

  • SW2 limited stops: Bankstown, Punchbowl, Wiley Park, Lakemba, Belmore, then express to Sydenham and return. 

SW1 and SW2 buses will stop at Lakemba station on Lakemba St at St Therese's Primary School instead of The Boulevarde during the event due to road closures.

Planned trackwork is taking place on the T3 and T6 lines during the event on weekend Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1 March and weeknights Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 March. Buses replace T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line trains between Liverpool and Lidcombe and T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line trains between Bankstown and Lidcombe. Trackwork

Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February

  • M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line: Metro services will not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only. For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern. Use trains between Epping or Chatswood, the City and Sydenham. Buses also replace T4 Eastern Suburbs Line trains between Central and Bondi Junction. 
  • T1 North Shore Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel. Metro services do not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only. Use trains between Chatswood, the City and Sydenham. From 7.50pm to Sunday 7.50am, buses replace Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains between Wyong and Hornsby. T1 North Shore and T9 Northern Line trains continue run between Berowra, Hornsby and the City. 
  • T1 Western Line: Buses replace trains between Emu Plains and Parramatta. Trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Blacktown, and between Parramatta and the City. from 6.30am to 10.30am, trains make an extra stop at Burwood. 
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: From 6.30am to 10.30am, Inner West trains run between Ashfield and the City only. Leppington trains make extra stops at Homebush and Croydon. Some T1 trains make an extra stop at Burwood. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. 
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: From 6.30am to 10.30am, trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and Lidcombe, and between Ashfield and the City only. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. T1 Western and T2 Leppington trains run between Lidcombe and the City. 
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction, but do not stop at Martin Place. Trains run to a changed timetable between Cronulla, Waterfall and the City Circle, with some making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Change at: Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff or Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction. Metro services do not run between Sydenham and Tallawong. Daily from 6.30am to 12.15pm, some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Some trains start or end at Hurstville or Sutherland. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. Trains may leave from different platforms, please check indicator screens before boarding. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Buses replace trains between Blacktown and Parramatta. Trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Blacktown, and between Parramatta or Leppington and the City via Granville. You may need to change services to continue your journey. 
  • T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: From 6.30am to 10.30am, trains run between Bankstown and Lidcombe to a changed frequency, every 30 minutes. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Trains between Sydenham and the City Circle run to a changed timetable. Trains via the Airport run to the normal timetable 
  • T9 Northern Line: Buses replace metro services between Tallawong and Chatswood. For travel to T1 North Shore Line stations change at Hornsby, not Epping. Change at Epping for buses towards Tallawong or Chatswood. 
  • Blue Mountains Line: Buses replace trains between Bathurst and Parramatta. T1 Western Line trains run between Parramatta and the City, to a changed timetable. 
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Most trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Strathfield only. Change trains at Strathfield to continue your journey. Buses replace metro services between Tallawong and Chatswood. For travel to T1 North Shore Line stations change at Hornsby, not Epping.  From 7.50pm to Sunday 7.50am, buses replace trains between Wyong and Hornsby. Trains run to a changed timetable between Newcastle Interchange and Wyong. T1 North Shore and T9 Northern trains run between Berowra, Hornsby and the City. 
  • South Coast Line: Trains run to a changed timetable between South Coast Line stations and Hurstville only. T4 Illawarra Line trains run to a changed timetable between Hurstville and the City Circle. Buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction, but do not stop at Martin Place. Change at: Hurstville for T4 trains towards the City, Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff, or metro services to Martin Place or Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction. From 6.30am to 12.15pm, some trains make extra stops between Sutherland and Hurstville. 

Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1 March weekend

  • T1 Western Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between: Richmond and Fairfield. Change at Parramatta for trains towards the City, or Penrith and the City, making extra stops at Flemington and Burwood. Daily from 5pm to 1am, some Penrith trains make extra stops at Olympic Park 
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: Buses replace trains between Macarthur, Glenfield and Fairfield. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Leppington and the City via the Airport, and between Fairfield and Richmond. Change at Parramatta for trains to the City via Granville. Inner West trains run between Homebush or Ashfield and the City via Granville. Buses also replace T3 trains between Liverpool and Lidcombe via Regents Park. From 9.40pm to 3am Sunday, buses also replace trains between Leppington and East Hills. Trains run between East Hills and the City, to a changed timetable. 
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: Buses replace trains between Liverpool and Lidcombe via Regents Park. Trains run between Lidcombe and the City, to a changed timetable and frequency. Inner West trains run between Homebush or Ashfield and the City. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. Buses also replace trains between Macarthur, Liverpool and Fairfield and T6 trains between Bankstown and Lidcombe. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Buses replace trains between Glenfield and Fairfield. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Glenfield, and between Fairfield and Schofields or Richmond. From 9.40pm to 3am Sunday, buses also replace trains between Leppington and Glenfield. 
  • T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: Buses replace trains between Bankstown and Lidcombe. Buses also replace T3 trains between Liverpool and Lidcombe. Change at: Lidcombe for T1 trains towards the City or Parramatta, Regents Park for T3 buses towards Liverpool or Bankstown for Southwest Link bus services to Sydenham. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Buses replace trains between Macarthur, Glenfield and Fairfield. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington or Revesby and the City via the Airport. T8 trains continue to run between Sydenham and the City Circle, some to a changed timetable. From 9.40pm to 3am Sunday, buses replace trains between Leppington and East Hills. Trains run between East Hills and the City, to a changed timetable. 
  • Blue Mountains Line: Trauns run between Blue Mountains Line stations and Blacktown only. Use T1 Western Line trains between Blacktown and the City. Trains from Blacktown to Blue Mountains Line stations run 30 minutes later than the normal timetable. 
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Most trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Strathfield only. Change at Epping for metro services to the City or change trains at Strathfield to continue your journey. 
  • Southern Highlands Line: Buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Glenfield. You may need to change buses to continue your journey. T8 Airport & South Line trains run between Glenfield and the City via the Airport, to a changed timetable. From 9.40pm to 3am Sunday, buses replace trains between Moss Vale and East Hills. T8 Airport & South Line trains run between East Hills and the City via the Airport.

Southwest Link buses

Fare free Southwest Link buses replace trains between Sydenham and Bankstown.

Catch trains or metro to Sydenham or Bankstown to connect with fare free Southwest Link bus routes SW1 and SW2 running regularly to Lakemba

  • SW1 all-stops: Bankstown, then all stations to Sydenham and return. 
  • SW2 limited stops: Bankstown, Punchbowl, Wiley Park, Lakemba, Belmore, then express to Sydenham and return.

During the event, SW1 and SW2 buses will use stops on Lakemba St at St Therese's Primary School instead of The Boulevarde. Visit the Southwest Link page for more details.

Regular route buses

Routes 450, 945, 942, 946 and N40 also make stops within short walking distance of the event in Lakemba. Be aware that due to road closures buses will use different routes and stops.

Bus diversions

Routes SW1, SW2, 450, 942, 946 and N40 make stops within walking distance of the event on Haldon Street, however buses will use different routes and stops while roads are closed around Lakemba Station during the event. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

From 4pm to 4.30am Thursday-Sunday weekly from 19 February to 15 March:

SW1, SW2 and N40: 

  • SW1 and SW2 Southwest Link buses and Route N40 buses will divert around a section of The Boulevarde via King Georges Rd, Lakemba St and Haldon St in both directions.
  • Southwest Link buses towards Sydenham and N40 buses to Town Hall will pick up from St Therese's Primary School, Lakemba St (Stop ID 219585)
  • Southwest Link buses towards Bankstown and N40 buses to East Hills will pick up from Lakemba St opp Therese's Primary School (Stop ID 219591)

Route 450: 

  • Buses will divert around a section of Haldon St via The Boulevarde, Quigg St and Canterbury Rd in both directions. Stops between The Boulevarde and Canterbury Rd will be missed.
  • Catch buses towards Hurstville from: Quigg St south before Gillies St (Temporary bus stop), Benaroon Rd at Lakemba St (Stop ID219266) or Canterbury Rd after Remly St (Stop ID 2196152).
  • Catch buses towards Strathfield from: Canterbury Rd after Willeroo St (Stop ID 219532), Benaroon Rd after Lakemba St (Stop ID 219586) or Quigg St south before Gillies St (Temporary bus stop)

Route 942: 

  • Buses will divert around a section of Haldon St via The Boulevarde, Quigg St and Canterbury Rd in both directions. Stops between The Boulevarde and Canterbury Rd will be missed.
  • Catch buses towards Campsie from St Therese's Primary School, Lakemba St (Stop ID 219585), Lakemba St at Barremma Rd (Stop ID 2195120) or Leylands Pde after Peel St (Stop ID 219246)
  • Catch buses towards Lugarno from Lakemba St opp Therese's Primary School (219591) or The Boulevarde at Moreton St (2195114)

Route 946: 

  • Buses will divert around a section of Haldon St via The Boulevarde, Quigg St and Canterbury Rd in both directions. Stops between The Boulevarde and Canterbury Rd will be missed.
  • Catch buses towards Roselands from St Therese's Primary School, Lakemba St (Stop ID 219585) or Canterbury Rd before Dennis St (Stop ID 219517).
  • Catch buses towards Bankstown from Quigg St south before Gillies St (temporary bus stop) or Canterbury Rd at Legge St (Stop ID 2196258).

Catch one of the many ferry services to Circular Quay and change for a train to Sydenham to connect with SW1 or SW2 buses to Lakemba.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line 

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily.

From Dulwich Hill connect with a Southwest Link bus to Lakemba to get within walking distance of the event. 

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines 

L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily.

From Central, catch a train or Metro service to Sydenham and connect with a Southwest Link bus to Lakemba to get within walking distance of the event. 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily.

Alight at Parramatta Square to connect with trains towards Lidcombe then change for trains to Bankstown to catch Southwest Link buses to Lakemba. 

Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Heavy traffic is expected on roads approaching and within the area while the event takes place, particularly during busy weeknight peak travel times. Catch public transport instead or allow plenty of extra travel time. 

Parking in the area is limited. If you must drive, check signs carefully before parking. 

Road closures 

The following road closures will be in place Thursdays to Sundays, 4pm to 4.30am, from Thursday 19 February to 15 Sunday March 2026, with the exception of The Boulevarde, which will open at 4am. (Please note: Sunday 15 March 2026 will be the last night of Lakemba Nights during Ramadan 2026):

  • Haldon Street between Railway Parade and Gillies Street;
  • Haldon Street between 168 Haldon Street and Grace Avenue;
  • The Boulevarde between Croydon Street and Quigg Street; (The Boulevarde will open at 4am)
  • Gilles Street between Quigg Street and Haldon Street;
  • Gillies Lane between Gillies Street and Quigg Street;
  • Oneata Street between Croydon Street and Haldon Street; and
  • Oneata Lane between The Boulevarde and Oneata Street.

Some sections of Haldon Street, Oneata Street, Gillies Street and The Boulevarde will turn into No Stopping Tow Away zones every Thursday-Sunday from 3.30pm-6pm from 19 February-15 March. Please read the signage and comply with new regulations to avoid being towed.

Detour Routes 

Motorists will be detoured around the road closures via the following routes: 

  • Southbound traffic in Haldon Street north of the railway line will be detoured using Railway Parade/Moreton Street/The Boulevarde/Quigg Street/Grace Avenue/Haldon Street to Canterbury Road. 
  • Northbound traffic in Haldon Street will be detoured using Grace Avenue/Quigg Street/The Boulevarde/Moreton Street to Lakemba Street. 
  • Eastbound traffic in The Boulevarde west of Haldon Street will be detoured using Croydon Street to Canterbury Road. 
  • Westbound traffic in The Boulevarde east of Haldon Street will be detoured using Quigg Street/Grace Avenue/Haldon Street to Canterbury Road. 

Resident and business access permits 

Access to properties for residents and businesses will be maintained, however a permit is required to gain access when the road closures are in place. To obtain a free permit, you will need to apply. Visit the Lakemba Nights Road Closures and Permits page 

The taxi and rideshare rank at Lakemba Station will be affected by road closures. Plan ahead and use locations away from the immediate vicinity of the station as traffic will be heavy.

  • Lakemba Station Parking, entry via The Boulevarde
  • Croydon St Public Parking,
  • Quigg St South Public Parking (North), behind Chemist warehouse
  • Quigg St South Public Parking (South)
  • Commuter Car Park, Railway Parade
