Important Travel Advice
Bay to Bay participants and spectators are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.
The Marathon will start behind polytec Stadium, Gosford at 6:20am while the Kids Run will start at polytec Stadium at 9:00am. The 5km event will start at Adcock Park, West Gosford at 10:40am. Both the 12km event and Half Marathon will start at The Boulevard, Woy Woy at 7.10am and 8.30am respectively. All events will finish inside polytec Stadium, Gosford.
Trains run regularly to Gosford and Woy Woy Stations on the Central Coast and Newcastle Line. Participants and volunteers receive free travel on trains, metro and buses to and from the event. Simply show your Free Travel Pass to transport staff when boarding services.
If you’re driving, travel with your group and use nearby local parking. Traffic may be heavier than usual and roads in the area will close to allow racegoers to complete their event. Be patient, allow extra travel time and follow the directions of traffic controllers. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.
Ticketing Entitlements
Bay to Bay 2026 Running Festival participants receive travel to and from the event valid on Sunday 14 June. Just show your race bib to Transport staff when boarding any of the following services:
- Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink Intercity services (non-booked services bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations) * GatePass purchase is still required at International and Domestic Airport stations.
- Sydney Metro services
- Buses (Sydney Metropolitan and Outer Metropolitan areas including Newcastle Transport).
- Sydney Ferries (Including the Manly Fast Ferry and Brooklyn Ferry Service).
- Sydney and Parramatta Light Rail
- Transport Park&Ride car park - use the intercom button at the exit gate to speak with the operator.
Remember to keep your race bib safe for your return journey or you'll need to use your Opal card, as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your event travel entitlement is valid until 4am the following day.
Note: an additional train station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. The access fee is not covered by your event ticket travel entitlements.
Opal
You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.
Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.
More ways to pay
If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.
Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city.
The M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late.
Change at Chatswood or Epping to connect with Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains to Gosford and Woy Woy.
M1 Metro North West & Bankstown planned trackwork – Sunday 14 June
- Metro services do not run between Central and Sydenham. Services run between Tallawong and Martin Place, and between Martin Place and Central only.
- Change at Martin Place for metro services towards Tallawong or Central, or T4 trains to Sydenham.
- For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern.

The closest station to the 2km and 5km starting line is Gosford station.
The closest station to the 12km and half marathon starting line is Woy Woy station.
Both Gosford and Woy Woy stations are on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line within short walking distance of the event starting lines. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner.
Trackwork
Planned weekend trackwork is taking place on Sunday 14 June on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner:
- M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line: Metro services do not run between Central and Sydenham. Services run between Tallawong and Martin Place, and between Martin Place and Central only. Change at Martin Place for metro services towards Tallawong or Central, or T4 trains to Sydenham. For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern.
- T1 North Shore Line: Buses replace trains between Hornsby and Milsons Point, also stopping at Crows Nest and Victoria Cross metro stations. Use metro services between Chatswood, Crows Nest or Victoria Cross and the City. Some late night buses run between T1 North Shore Line stations and Wynyard.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
- T9 Northern Line: Trains run between Berowra or Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-14 only. If travelling to
:T1 North Shore Line stations, change at Epping or Central for metro services to Victoria Cross, Crows Nest or Chatswood, then change for a bus. - Blue Mountains Line: From 9.30am to 4.30pm, buses replace trains from Lithgow to Katoomba. From 10.30am to 5pm, buses replace trains from Katoomba to Lithgow. Trains run to a changed timetable between Katoomba and
Central. - South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong. Trains run between Port Kembla, Wollongong and Central or Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. Buses do not run to the train timetable. If connecting with trains at Wollongong you may need to catch an earlier bus to ensure you meet your train connection. Sydney metro trackwork may also affect how you travel.

Roads in the area will close for the event and buses will divert while the road closures are in place.
During the event, there will be no changes to bus routes 55 and 59.
Bus route 64 arriving Woy Woy station at 8:59am will be impacted by rolling road closures.
Bus routes 21, 22 & 23 from Gosford station to Central Coast Highway westbound will be diverted via Mann Street, Donnison Street, Baker Street, Georgiana Terrace and Dane Drive.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line
L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
Change at Central to connect with Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains to Gosford and Woy Woy.
L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines
L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Change at Central to connect with Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains to Gosford and Woy Woy.
L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line
L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train from Parramatta Station.
Newcastle Light Rail
Newcastle Light Rail services run from 5am to 1am daily between Newcastle Interchange in Wickham and Pacific Park in Newcastle East. With six convenient stops, it’s easy to get around Newcastle’s city centre and connect with train, bus and ferry services.

If you're driving to the event, allow extra travel time and plan ahead as road closures will be in place.
Road Closures
Motorists travelling between Gosford and Woy Woy will be diverted via Woy Woy Road.
Key roads in the area will be closed for the event including:
- The Boulevarde, Woy Woy between Brisbane Water Drive and Brick Wharf Road from 5am, Saturday 13 June to 10am, Sunday 14 June.
- Rolling closure of Brisbane Water Drive from Brick Wharf Road to Glenrock Parade with various side local roads that intersect with Brisbane Water Drive from 6.30am to 8.10am.
- Riou Street, Gosford, southbound between Donnison Street and Central Coast Highway from 7.00am to 12pm.
- Dane Drive, Gosford, between Donnison Street and Georgiana Terrace from 6:50am to 1pm.
- Alfred Higgs Place, Gosford between the roundabout on Central Coast Highway to the carpark underneath Brian McGowan Bridge from 5am to 1pm.
Motorists should avoid the area during the event but if travel is necessary, allow extra travel time and follow the directions of traffic controllers on site.

Racegoers and spectators driving to the event should allow plenty of extra travel as parking is expected to be in high demand.
Parking is available at Gosford and Woy Woy Stations.
- For the half marathon and 12km event, park at Gosford Station and take the train to the starting line at Woy Woy. Gosford Station is a short walk from the finish line at Industree Group Stadium.
- For the 5km event, street parking is available near polytec Stadium which is a short 1km walk from the starting line at Adcock Park. Limited parking will also be available within Adcock Park.
- For the 2km kids event, local street parking is available around polytec Stadium. Parking is also available at Gosford Station, which is a short walk from the stadium.
