Important travel advice

Sydney football fans can come together at the free live site in Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup men's matches live on the big screen. This free public event is screening all the key Socceroo matches, plus the quarter finals right through to the big final. 

  • Sunday 14 June: Australia vs Türkiye, kick off 2pm AEST
  • Saturday 20 June: USA v Australia, kick off 5am AEST
  • Friday 26 June: Paraguay v Australia, kick off 12pm AEST
  • Saturday 4 July: Australia v Egypt, kick off 4am AEST
  • 9 – 11 July: Quarter-finals, date and time TBC
  • 14 – 15 July: Semi-finals, date and time TBC
  • Monday 20 July: Final, time TBC

Early morning and late night trains, metro, buses and light rail services run to Town Hall, Gadigal and Central, which are within short walking distance of Tumbalong Park at the southern end of Darling Harbour. The closest light rail stops are Paddy’s Markets and Exhibition Centre. 

On Saturday 4 July additional early-morning Sydney Trains services will run from 2am on some lines, Metro services will operate a 24-hour service from 1.30am to 5am every 20 minutes and additional Light Rail L1 services will run every 20 minutes from 2.30am between Central and The Star and L2/L3 services will run every 15-30 minutes from 2.30am.

Please note that due to planned trackwork buses replace T4 and T8 line trains between Sydenham, Central and Bondi Junction. Additional early morning trains will run to Sydenham. Change at Sydenham for Metro services to Central.

You'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

If you’re driving, allow extra travel time as traffic may be heavy and parking may fill quickly onsite at the ICC Sydney car park and the Harbourside Wilson car park. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham running from early morning until late.

On Saturday 4 July, Metro services will operate a 24-hour service from 1.30am to 5am every 20 minutes.

Alight at Gadigal, exiting via Bathurst St then continue on foot down to Darling Harbour.

Alternatively, alight at Central and continue on foot to Tumbalong Park or connect with L1 light rail services to Exhibition Centre leaving from Central Grand Concourse.  

Trackwork – Sunday 12 July

  • Metro services will not run between Tallawong and Sydenham.  
  • Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only.  
  • Trackwork also affects trains in the City. For travel between Epping or Chatswood and Sydenham use: 
    • T9 Northern Line trains between Epping and Central or T1 North Shore Line trains between Chatswood and Wynyard 
    • L2 or L3 light rail services between Wynyard and Central  
    • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line trains between Martin Place and Sydenham. 
  • For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern.

The best station for connections to the Tumbalong Park in Darling Harbour is Central. Trains run regularly to Central 

On Saturday 4 July additional early-morning Sydney Trains services will run from 2am on some lines.

From Central, walk to Tumbalong Park or catch L1 Light rail services leaving from the Grand Concourse to the Exhibition Centre stop which is directly opposite the venue. 

Weekend Trackwork 10-12 July: Please note that trains do note run on the City Circle, or between Central and Wynyard, from 10.40pm Friday 10 July until first service Monday 13 July. Metro services also do not run on Sunday 12 July. For travel in the city, use light rail or buses instead. Plan your trip and allow extra travel time.

Saturday 4 July

  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: From 6.30am to 10.30am, trains run between Liverpool and Lidcombe, and between Homebush and the City only, some to a changed timetable. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. T1 Western and T2 Leppington trains run between Lidcombe and the City. 
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Buses replace trains between Sydenham, Central and Bondi Junction. Trains run between Waterfall or Cronulla and Sydenham only. Change at: Wolli Creek for trains to the City Circle via the Airport; Sydenham for metro services to Central, Martin Place or Gadigal (Town Hall), or buses to St Peters, Erskineville or Redfern; Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff, or metro services to Martin Place, or Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction. Replacement buses do not leave from Martin Place Station, use metro services. 
  • T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: From 6.30am to 10.30am, trains run to a changed timetable and reduced frequency, every 30 minutes. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Buses replace T8 trains between Sydenham and Central. Trains run to the normal timetable between Macarthur, Revesby and the City via the Airport. Metro services continue to run between Sydenham and Tallawong. 
  • South Coast Line: Trains run to a changed timetable between South Coast Line stations and Hurstville only. Change trains at Hurstville to continue your journey. Buses replace trains between Sydenham, Central and Bondi Junction. From 7.30am to 11.30am, at Stanwell Park and Coalcliff, all trains leave from platform 1. From 12pm to 4pm, at Coalcliff and Stanwell Park, all trains leave from platform 2. 
  • Southern Highlands Line: The following trains leave Central earlier than the normal timetable: 16:06 Central to Moss Vale services leave Central at 16:01, and 17:55 Central to Goulburn service leaves Central at 17:30. 

Weekday – Friday 10 July 

  • City Circle: From 10.40pm, trains do not run on the City Circle, or between Central and Wynyard. For travel around the City use T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra trains, light rail or local buses. L2 and L3 light rail services run between Central and Circular Quay. Trackwork also affects trains on other lines. 
  • T1 North Shore Line: From 11pm, trains run between Berowra and Wynyard only, to a changed timetable. Trains do not run between Wynyard and Central, or on the City Circle. Change at Wynyard for light rail or local buses to continue your journey.  
  • T1 Western Line: From 11pm, trains do to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Penrith and Central, platforms 1-14 only, making extra stops at Homebush, Flemington and Burwood. Richmond trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Richmond and Leppington. 
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: From 10.40pm, buses replace Inner West trains between Strathfield and Central. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Leppington and Olympic Park via Granville. Change at Lidcombe to continue your journey. The last Inner West train leaves Central at 22:26, arriving Ashfield at 22:44. 
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: From 10.40pm, buses replace Inner West trains between Strathfield and Central. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Liverpool and Lidcombe only. Change at Lidcombe to continue your journey. 
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: From 10.40pm, some trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: From 10.40pm, trains via the Airport start and end at Central. T8 trains do not run between Sydenham and the City. T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra trains run between Sydenham and Bondi Junction, making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. 
  • T9 Northern Line: From 11pm, trains run to a changed timetable between Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-14 only. 

Weekend – Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July

On Sunday Sydney Metro trackwork may also affect how you travel.  On Saturday from 7.30am to 11.30am, at Waterfall and Helensburgh, all trains leave from platform 1. From 12pm to 4pm, at Helensburgh and Waterfall, all trains leave from platform 2. On Sunday from 7.30am to 11.30am, at Helensburgh and Otford, all trains leave from platform 1. From 12pm to 4pm, at Otford and Helensburgh, all trains leave from platform 2.   
  • Southern Highlands Line: Buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Glenfield.  T8 Airport & South Line trains run between Glenfield and Sydenham and between Revesby and Central via the Airport.

Early morning and late night ferries are limited. Plan ahead and consider the alternative transport options including trains, buses and light rail. 

Catch a ferry to Circular Quay where you can change for light rail or trains to Town Hall or Central and continue on foot to Tumbalong Park.

Alternatively, catch a ferry to Pyrmont Bay or Barangaroo and continue on foot.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Use the Trip Planner to plan your trip.

Catch light rail services to the Exhibition Centre stop which is located across from Tumbalong Park.

On Saturday 4 July, additional early morning L1 services will run every 20 minutes between Central and The Star from 2.30am.

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). On Saturday 4 July, additional early-morning L2 and L3 services will run every 30 minutes from 2.30am (15-minute frequency between Moore Park and CBD).

From Central continue on foot or change for L1 Light rail services leaving from Central Grand Concourse to Exhibition Centre which is located across from Tumbalong Park.

Alternatively, alight at Haymarket or Chinatown stops and walk to the park in Darling Harbour.

On Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 July from 7am to 7pm, extra L2 and L3 light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick or Juniors Kingsford while metro and City Circle trackwork takes place 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service to Central from Parramatta Station.  

From Central continue on foot or change for L1 Light rail services leaving from Central Grand Concourse to Exhibition Centre which is located across from Tumbalong Park

Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching Darling Harbour including Harbour St, Darling Drive and Pier St. If you have to drive or are using taxis or rideshare, allow additional travel time.

Pedestrians are reminded to exercise caution around the tram tracks between the CBD and South East and cross at designated pedestrian crossings.

Parking is available within the TikTok Entertainment Centre (formerly ICC Sydney Theatre) at the Exhibition Centre carpark. Entry is via Darling Drive. Casual hourly parking rates apply.
