Improved school bus services for students in Maitland

From Monday 14 September, it will be easier for students across Kurri Kurri, Cliftleigh, Gillieston Heights and Maitland to get to and from school with improved bus services. 

Timetable and route changes will improve coverage, increase capacity and reduce wait times for students. 

Some routes, stops and departure times will change. Students and families should check Trip Planner for the latest timetables before travelling

The changes have been developed in collaboration with bus operator Rover Motors and local schools. 

Schools with changes to services include:

  • Kurri Kurri High School
  • Kurri Kurri Public School
  • Gillieston Public School
  • Hunter Trade College

  • Route S934 will provide improved morning coverage for Gillieston Public School students in Cliftleigh including William Tester Drive and surrounds.
  • All pick up times on the Route S934 will depart approximately 3 minutes earlier. Passengers should check Trip Planner for changes to their journey.
S953 AMRedwood Drive to Gillieston Public SchoolPath change
  • Route S953 will provide additional morning coverage in Gillieston Heights including Saddlers Drive for Gillieston Public School 
S936 PMGilleston PS to Heddon Greta via CliftleighPath and timetable change
  • Route S936 will depart Gillieston Public School earlier at 3.10pm and provide additional afternoon coverage for Cliftleigh
S956 PMGillieston PS to Gillieston HeightsNew route
  • The new Route S956 will provide additional afternoon coverage in Gillieston Heights including Saddlers Drive for Gillieston Public School 
S938 PMKurri Kurri PS to Heddon GretaTimetable change
  • Route S938 departs Kurri Kurri Public School at 3.35pm, getting students home earlier
S851 PMKurri Kurri HS to Gillieston PS via Gillieston HeightsPath and timetable change
  • Route S851 will depart Kurri Kurri High School at 2.35pm and provide additional coverage in Gllieston Heights including Saddlers Drive
166 PMKurri Kurri to MaitlandTimetable change
  • Route 166 will depart Kurri Kurri High School at 2.40pm, getting students home earlier
S951 PMKurri Kurri High School to Gillieston Heights via CliftleighPath change
  • Improved afternoon coverage in Cliftleigh. The service will now terminate in Gillieston Heights, providing a more direct service for students travelling to Cliftleigh and surrounds.
Previously S951 PM, replaced with S865 PMKurri Kurri HS to Maitland Station via Hunter Trade CollegeRoute replaced
  • The current S951 PM service to Maitland Station will be renumbered as S865. 
  • There is no significant change to the operation of the service, with students continuing to travel to Maitland Station and maintaining the same train connection opportunities currently available. The S865 service will operate at approximately the same time as the current S951 service. 
Previously S935 PM, replaced with 166 PMKurri Kurri to MaitlandRoute replaced
  • Students currently travelling on the S935 PM service should instead catch Route 166. Route 166 PM will continue to provide connections to Maitland Station and maintain existing train connections.
