Important Travel Advice

Attendees are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.  

Match tickets include travel on trains, metro and light rail – simply show your ticket to staff when boarding services.   

Trains and metro services run regularly to North Sydney and Victoria Cross stations and the venue is a short walk away via Miller St.  

If you have to drive, travel with your group and allow extra travel time. Limited street parking is available in the area, while Ridge Street and Ward Street car parks are within walking distance of the Oval.  

Traffic will be heavier than usual on roads in the area as fans travel to the match in the busy evening peak. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.

Match Ticket Entitlements 

Valid pre-purchased tickets to 2024 WBBL matches played at North Sydney Oval include travel on the following transport services, just show your event ticket to Transport staff when boarding services:  

  • Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink Intercity services (non-booked services bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations) 
  • Sydney Metro services 
  • Sydney and Newcastle Light Rail services 

Remember to keep your event ticket safe for your return journey or you'll need to use your Opal card or, as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your match ticket is valid on trains, metro and light rail until 4am the following day.  

Note: an additional train station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. The access fee is not covered by your event ticket travel entitlements.

For travel on buses and ferries, you will need to use an Opal card or contactless payment method. See below for more information. 

Opal 

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.  

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.  

More ways to pay 

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham. 

Metro services start running from early morning, every 5 to 10 minutes, until late at night.

The closest train station is North Sydney on the T1 North Shore Line and T9 Northern Line.

Trackwork

Planned weeknight trackwork is taking place on Thursday 14 November on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner:  

  • T1 Western Line: From 9.50pm to 1.30am, trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between T1 Western Line stations and Central, platforms 1-12 only. 
  • T9 Northern Line: From 9.50pm to 1.30am, trains run between Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12 only, due to trackwork on the T1 North Shore Line. Change at Central for City Circle trains, metro or light rail services to continue your journey. 
  • Blue Mountains Line: Buses replace trains between Lithgow and Mount Victoria. Trains run between Mount Victoria and Central, some to a changed timetable. Bathurst trains run between Bathurst and Lithgow or Central, to the normal timetable. 

Trackwork is carried out on an ongoing basis to maintain the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the Sydney Trains network. A number of regular Sydney Buses make stops along Miller Street near the Oval.

Catch a ferry to Milsons Point where you can change for a train to North Sydney to get within walking distance of the Oval.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line 

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

At Central, change to a metro service to Victoria Cross to get within short walking distance of North Sydney Oval. Alternatively, change for a train to North Sydney station on the T1 Line or T9 Line.  

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines 

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily, plan your trip using the Trip Planner

At Central, change to a metro service to Victoria Cross to get within short walking distance of North Sydney Oval. Alternatively, change for a train to North Sydney station on the T1 Line or T9 Line.

If you have to drive, carpool with your group and plan to arrive early to secure a parking space. Traffic will be heavier than usual in the area as attendees travel to the match in the busy evening peak. Allow extra travel time on roads including Miller Street and Falcon Street.

  • Carlow Street (timed parking restrictions apply) 
  • Ridge Street car park: free on weekends, casual rates apply on weekdays.  
  • Ward Street car park: fees apply.
