Important Travel Advice

Fans are encouraged to plan ahead and consider all the available travel options.

The closest station to the stadium is Broadmeadow on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. The stadium is a short walk from the station.   

Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

If you’re driving, travel with your group and pre-book stadium parking via Ticketmaster or use nearby local parking. Traffic will be heavier than usual as fans travel to the game in the busy evening peak so allow extra travel time. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions livetraffic.com.  

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham. Metro services start running from early morning, every 5 to 10 minutes, until late at night. 

Change at Epping or Central to connect with a Central Coast & Newcastle Line train to Broadmeadow.

The closest station to McDonald Jones Stadium is Broadmeadow on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. From the station, the stadium is approximately a 15 to 20-minute walk away (1.5km). 

Trackwork

Planned trackwork is taking place on Sunday 6 April on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner

  • M1 Metro Line: Extra metro services run between Tallawong and Sydenham due to train trackwork on the T1 North Shore Line and City Circle.  
  • City Circle Line: Trains will not run on the City Circle, or between Central and North Sydney. For travel around the City use T4 trains, metro, light rail or local bus services. 
  • T1 North Shore Line: Trains run between Berowra and North Sydney only. Use metro services between Chatswood, Crows Nest or Victoria Cross and the City. Buses run between Milsons Point, North Sydney and Victoria Cross stations. Some late-night buses run between North Sydney and Wynyard.  
  • T1 Western Line: Penrith trains run to a changed timetable between Penrith and Central, platforms 1-12 only, and make extra stops at Flemington, Homebush and Burwood. Trackwork on the City Circle and T1 North Shore Line may also affect how you travel. Change at Central for metro, light rail or local bus services. Richmond trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Richmond and Liverpool only. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City. 
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: Buses replace Inner West Line trains between Strathfield and Central. Express trains continue to run. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Olympic Park via Granville and between Leppington and Lidcombe via Regents Park. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey. T1 Western Line Penrith trains make extra stops at Flemington, Homebush and Burwood. 
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: Buses replace Inner West Line trains between Strathfield and Central. Express trains continue to run. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Lidcombe via Regents Park. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey. T1 Western Line Penrith trains make extra stops at Flemington, Homebush and Burwood. 
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: All Cronulla and some Waterfall trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Trains may run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. From 5.45am to 8.45am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Blacktown. From 8.45am to 11am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Schofields. 
  • T6 Lidcombe and Bankstown Line: Trains run to a changed timetable, every 30 minutes. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. Revesby trains run between Revesby and Central only, via the Airport. Most Macarthur trains run between Macarthur and Sydenham only. Change at: Revesby for trains to Airport stations, Sydenham for T4 trains towards Bondi Junction, or metro services to the City Early morning and late-night trains run between Macarthur and Central via the Airport. T4 trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel. 
  • T9 Northern Line: Trains run between Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12 only. Until 8am, trains run to a reduced frequency, every 30 minutes. Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel. Change at Epping for metro services to the City or at Central for light rail or local bus services. 
  • Blue Mountains Line: Trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Lidcombe and Central. 
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. 
  • South Coast Line: From 2.30am to 9.50am, buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong. Trains run between Port Kembla, Wollongong and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. The 02:39 Kiama to Bondi Junction service will run up to 17 minutes earlier than the normal timetable from Kiama to Coniston, then run to the normal timetable from Wollongong to Bondi Junction.

The closest bus stops to McDonald Jones Stadium are on Turton Road and Lambton Road. Regular routes 13, 23, 25, 26 and 27 run towards the stadium. Check Newcastle Transport for more bus network information.

Ferries run between Stockton and Queens Wharf approximately every 20 minutes.

At Queens Wharf, change for a light rail service to Newcastle Interchange then connect with trains to Broadmeadow. Alternatively, from King Street near Perkins Street, you can catch a route 13 bus to Lambton Road to get within short walking distance of the stadium.

Newcastle Light Rail services run from 5am to 1am daily between Newcastle Interchange in Wickham and Pacific Park in Newcastle East. With six convenient stops, it’s easy to get around Newcastle’s city centre and connect with train, bus and ferry services.

Catch a light rail service to Newcastle Interchange and change for a train to Broadmeadow where the stadium is within short walking distance.

Traffic will be heavier than usual on roads approaching the stadium as fans travel to the match in the busy evening peak. Carpool with your group and allow extra travel time on roads including Turton Road and Griffiths Road.  

For passenger drop-offs, use the allocated 10-minute loading zone in the McDonald Jones Stadium car park. Entry is via the driveway off Turton Road.

The nearest taxi rank to the stadium is located on Young Road, Broadmeadow. Taxis can be accessed after the event by following the signs to Young Road.

Pre-paid parking on game days and major events is available only for vehicles with a pre-paid parking ticket. Pre-paid parking tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster online, by phone or by visiting Ticketmaster box office at McDonald Jones Stadium. Visit Ticketmaster – McDonald Jones Stadium.  

Disabled parking areas have been designated in close proximity to each of McDonald Jones Stadiums accessible entries. To purchase a Mobility parking please phone Ticketmaster on 136 100 or visit the Ticketmaster box office at McDonald Jones Stadium.   

Drop-off zone: use the allocated 10-minute loading zone in the McDonald Jones Stadium car park. Entry is via the driveway off Turton Road.
