Important Travel Advice

Attendees are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.  

Trains run regularly to Olympic Park from Lidcombe and the venue is a short walk from the station. 

Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time. 

If you have to drive, travel with your group and pre-book your parking online – available until 11:59pm the night before the event. If you have pre-booked parking, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry.   

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the precinct as attendees travel to and from the event, particularly on weeknights and while other events are held in the precinct. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com

Important information for Wednesday 9 July and Saturday 12 July ticketholders: 

  • On Wednesday 9 July, 80,000 footy fans will also be travelling to the precinct for the State of Origin Game III clash at neighbouring Accor Stadium. Express and limited stop trains will run from 3pm to Olympic Park from Central. Disney on Ice attendees should take advantage of these extra trains and leave the car at home as heavy traffic is expected. If you need to drive it is essential that you pre-book parking as spaces will fill quickly and may sell out in advance. You can also consider parking at a nearby train station commuter car park and continuing your trip by train to Olympic Park. 
  • On Saturday 12 July, an AFL match is also taking place at nearby ENGIE Stadium from 4pm. Parking will be in higher demand than usual, so attendees are encouraged to pre-book parking or consider the transport options. 

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late. 

Change at Epping or Central for trains towards Lidcombe then Olympic Park.

The closest station to Qudos Bank Arena is Olympic Park.  

Trains run regularly to Lidcombe where you can head to Platform Zero for a direct train to Olympic Park, running every 10 minutes until late.

Weekday – Wednesday 9 to Friday 11 July 

  • T1 Western Line: On Thursday from 10.50pm to 1.30am, some trains make extra stops at Homebush and Burwood. On Friday from 10.50pm to 2am, trains make extra stops between Lidcombe and Ashfield. 
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: On Thursday from 11pm to 1.30am, Inner West trains run between Ashfield and the City Circle only. T1 or T9 trains make extra stops at stations between Homebush and Ashfield. Leppington trains continue to run but will not stop at Ashfield. Most T1 Western Line trains make extra stops at Homebush and Burwood. T9 trains make extra stops at Burwood, Croydon and Ashfield. On Friday from 11pm to 2am, Inner West trains will not run. T1 or T9 trains make extra stops at stations between Lidcombe and Central, to a changed timetable and frequency. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Olympic Park via Granville. 
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: On Thursday from 11pm to 1.30am, Inner West trains run between Ashfield and the City Circle only. T1 or T9 trains make extra stops at stations between Homebush and Ashfield. Trains run between Liverpool and Lidcombe only. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey. Most T1 trains make extra stops at Homebush and Burwood. T9 trains make extra stops at Burwood, Croydon and Ashfield. On Friday from 11pm to 2am, Inner West trains will not run. T1 or T9 trains make extra stops at stations between Lidcombe and Central, to a changed timetable and frequency. Trains run between Liverpool and Lidcombe only. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey. 
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: On Thursday from 9.45pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction. Trackwork buses do not leave from Martin Place Station, use metro services. Trains run to a changed timetable between Waterfall or Cronulla and the City, with some making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Change at Sydenham or Central for metro services to Martin Place; change at Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff; or change at Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction. On Thursday from 10.15pm to 1.30am, trains will not stop at Wolli Creek but make an extra stop at Arncliffe. Buses run between Sydenham, Wolli Creek and Arncliffe. Change at Arncliffe or Sydenham for a bus to Wolli Creek, or change at Central for a T8 Airport train if you have luggage or accessibility needs. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: On Thursday from 9.45pm to 1.30am, trains between Sydenham and the City Circle run to a changed timetable. 
  • T9 Northern Line: On Thursday from 10.50pm to 1.30am, trains make extra stops at Burwood, Croydon and Ashfield. On Friday from 11pm to 2am, trains run to a changed timetable and stop at all stations between Ashfield and Macdonaldtown. 
  • Blue Mountains Line: On Thursday from 9.20pm to 3.30am, buses replace trains between Lithgow and Springwood. The last train from the Blue Mountains leaves Mount Victoria at 20:52, arriving Central at 23:34. The last train to the Blue Mountains leaves Central at 19:09, arriving Mount Victoria at 21:29. Trains run between Springwood and Central, some to a changed timetable.  
  • Hunter Line: On Wednesday from 8am to 1pm, buses replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Telarah or Muswellbrook. The 08:29 Newcastle Interchange to Dungog will not run. Catch the 08:48 Newcastle Interchange to Telarah train and change at Maitland for a bus towards Dungog. Buses also replace the 10:02 Dungog to Newcastle Interchange service. 
  • South Coast Line: On Thursday from 9.45pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction. Trackwork buses do not leave from Martin Place Station. Trains run to a changed timetable between South Coast Line stations and Central, platforms 1-12. Change at Central for buses to Kings Cross, Edgecliff and Bondi Junction or metro services to Martin Place. On Thursday from 10.15pm to 1.30am, trains will not stop at Wolli Creek but make extra stops at Arncliffe and Sydenham. Buses run between Sydenham, Wolli Creek and Arncliffe. Change at Arncliffe or Sydenham for a bus to Wolli Creek, or change at Central for a T8 Airport train if you have luggage or accessibility needs. On Friday from 2am, buses replace trains between Thirroul and Sutherland. Express buses also run between Wollongong, North Wollongong and Sutherland. If travelling to T4 stations or the City, catch an express bus to Sutherland then change for a T4 train to continue your journey. Trains run to a changed timetable between South Coast Line stations and Thirroul. T4 trains run between Waterfall, Sutherland and Bondi Junction. 

Weekend – Saturday 12 to Sunday 13 July 

  • T1 North Shore Line: Trains may run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. Daily from 9am, trains run between Hornsby and the City only. T9 trains run between Berowra and the City via Strathfield. 
  • T1 Western Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Penrith trains make extra stops between Lidcombe and Ashfield. Richmond trains run between Richmond and Liverpool. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City.  
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: Inner West trains will not run. T1 or T9 trains make extra stops at stations between Lidcombe and Central, to a changed timetable and frequency. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Olympic Park via Granville, or between Leppington and Lidcombe via Regents Park. T1 trains run between Lidcombe and the City, stopping at all stations between Lidcombe and Ashfield. T9 trains stop at all stations between Ashfield and Macdonaldtown. You will need to change trains if travelling to Museum, St James or Circular Quay. On Saturday from 3.30am to 7.30am, some trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Blacktown. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City.
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: Inner West trains will not run. T1 or T9 trains make extra stops at stations between Lidcombe and Central, to a changed timetable and frequency. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Lidcombe only. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey. T1 trains run between Lidcombe and the City, stopping at all stations between Lidcombe and Ashfield. T9 trains stop at all stations between Ashfield and Macdonaldtown. You will need to change trains if travelling to Museum, St James or Circular Quay. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable. Extra trains run between Liverpool and Richmond. 
  • T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: Trains run to a reduced frequency, every 30 minutes. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Trains between Sydenham and the City Circle run to a changed timetable. 
  • T9 Northern Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stop at all stations between Ashfield and Macdonaldtown. Daily from 9am, trains run between Berowra or Hornsby and the City. 
  • Blue Mountains Line: Trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. 
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Hornsby only. Change trains at Hornsby to continue your journey. T1 and T9 trains run between Hornsby and the City, to a changed timetable. Some early morning and late-night trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Central, platforms 1-12 to a changed timetable.   
  • South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Thirroul and Sutherland. Express buses also run between Wollongong, North Wollongong and Sutherland. If travelling to T4 stations or the City, catch an express bus to Sutherland then change for a T4 train to continue your journey.  Trains run to a changed timetable between South Coast Line stations and Thirroul. T4 trains run between Waterfall, Sutherland and Bondi Junction.  
  • Southern Highlands Line: On Saturday from 4.40am to 4.50pm, buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown. T8 Airport & South Line trains run between Campbelltown and the City via the Airport.

The following Sydney Buses services run to Sydney Olympic Park:

  • Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Sydney Olympic Park via Newington. 
  • Route 526 runs between Strathfield and Rhodes Shopping Centre via Sydney Olympic Park precinct and wharf.  
  • Route 533 runs between Sydney Olympic Park and Chatswood via Rhodes & North Ryde.

The closest wharf to Qudos Bank Arena is Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus to the venue or alternatively it is approximately a 40-minute walk (3.6km) from the wharf.

F3 Parramatta River services run regularly to Olympic Park, but services are very popular and may reach capacity. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Plan your trip and allow plenty of extra travel time or consider the alternative public transport options available.

F3 Parramatta River ferries between Parramatta and Rydalmere may be affected by low tide and replaced by buses, check for updates here.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line 

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

Change at Central for trains to Lidcombe then Olympic Park. 

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines 

L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Change at Central for trains to Lidcombe then Olympic Park. 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

Please note that due to planned trackwork from 5am Saturday 12 July until 1am Monday 14 July, buses replace light rail services between Westmead and Carlingford. From Parramatta or Westmead connect with trains to Lidcombe then Olympic Park. 

Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Expect traffic delays approaching the precinct and entering car parks, particularly during weeknight peak travel times and when other events are on in the precinct including State of Origin on Wednesday 9 July.  

Travel with your group and allow extra travel time on roads including the M4, Parramatta Road, Homebush Bay Drive and Concord Road. 

If you have to drive, carpool with your group and pre-book your parking online ahead of time to secure a space – available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior. 

To get to your carpark and avoid the heavy traffic congestion expected at the Homebush Bay Drive roundabout, use Silverwater Road, Holker Street and Hill Road.

Road closures 

Sydney Olympic Park Authority will close some local roads in the precinct to accommodate increased public transport services and ensure pedestrian safety during events, with major closures in place on Wednesday 9 July for State of Origin. Follow directions of traffic controllers and expect delays. Visit the Sydney Olympic Park interactive map for more details.

The nearest Taxi Rank is on Herb Elliott Avenue near the Pullman Hotel. On Wednesday 9 July the taxi rank will relocate to Herb Elliott Ave near Park St due to closures for State of Origin. 

If you’re using taxis or rideshare, remember that roads will be closed within the precinct, with major closures in place on Wednesday 9 July for State of Origin. Allow plenty of extra travel time due to the increased traffic expected in the precinct before and after the event. 

When leaving, choose a pick-up location away from the immediate area around the stadium to avoid delays

Visit Sydney Olympic Park – Parking to secure your parking space ahead of the event, available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior. A flat rate $35 parking fee will apply.

If you haven’t pre-booked, follow the variable message signs within Sydney Olympic Park to the best available casual parking. 

Traffic delays are expected after the event as attendees leave the precinct.
